Junie Privacy Policy
What we collect, and why
- Account info — when you sign in with Apple, we receive your name (if you share it) and a private Apple identifier. Used only to keep your family's data attached to your account.
- Baby care logs — feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, notes, and photos you record. This is the product: it's stored so you and the caregivers you invite can see it.
- Mom check-ins — private to the person who wrote them. Not visible to other family members, and never analyzed for anything.
- Voice logging — your speech is converted to text by Apple's speech recognition (on your device on supported iPhones), and only the text transcript is processed by our AI provider to draft log entries you confirm.
- Ask Junie questions — your question and a small snapshot of your baby's day are processed by our AI provider to generate the answer.
- Purchase status — whether you have Junie Plus, processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
What we never collect
Location. Browsing history. Your contacts. Advertising identifiers. We don't use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking of any kind.
Who processes data on our behalf
A small set of infrastructure providers, each bound to processing your data only to run Junie:
- Apple — sign-in, on-device speech recognition, payments.
- Convex — our database and sync infrastructure, where your logs live encrypted in transit.
- Anthropic — processes voice transcripts and Ask Junie questions to generate responses. API data is not used to train their models.
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
That's the complete list. No one else receives your data, and none of these providers may use it for their own purposes.
Our AI provider, in detail
Junie's two AI features — Ask Junie and voice logging — are powered by Claude, an AI service from Anthropic, PBC. Because this means information leaves Junie and goes to another company, we ask for your explicit permission inside the app before anything is sent, and we tell you there exactly what you are agreeing to. You can turn it off at any time in Settings, and both features stop sending anything immediately.
What is sent to Anthropic:
- The question you type into Ask Junie, or the text transcript of what you said when voice logging.
- Your baby's first name and age.
- Today's totals only — the number of feeds, hours of sleep, and number of diapers.
- The title of the current week's development card, when one is being shown.
What is never sent to Anthropic: audio recordings, photos, your check-ins or journal entries, your full log history, and your name, email address or account identifiers.
How it is collected: only at the moment you use one of these two features, and only after you have granted permission. Nothing is sent in the background, and manual logging never sends anything to Anthropic.
How it is used: solely to generate the reply or the draft log entry that is returned to you. Anthropic does not use data submitted through their API to train their models, and does not sell it.
Protection: Anthropic is contractually bound to protect this information to the same standard we apply, to process it only on our instructions to deliver the feature you asked for, and not to use it for any purpose of their own.
If you never grant permission, Junie never contacts Anthropic at all, and every manual logging feature keeps working exactly as it does today — free, forever.
Your children's information
Junie is an app for parents and caregivers — adults hold the accounts, and the information about your baby is recorded by you, for you. We treat it with the sensitivity it deserves: it is never sold, and never used for any purpose beyond showing it back to your family — it is processed only by the providers listed above, solely to run Junie.
Your controls
- Export — download your data as CSV anytime, free, in Settings.
- Delete — Settings → Delete account & all data erases your account and every log, photo, and check-in from our servers, permanently. No emails, no waiting period, no retention.
- Caregiver access — you choose exactly who joins your family and what role they have, and parents can remove anyone at any time.
Not medical advice
Junie provides general information and pattern observations from your own logs. It is not a medical device and never provides diagnosis, treatment, or medication guidance. Always consult your pediatrician or healthcare provider with health concerns.
Changes & contact
If this policy ever changes, we'll say so plainly in the app before the change takes effect — and the one-sentence promise at the top is not going to change.
